Narrative:
During overnight maintenance of aircraft X in ZZZ, employee X had requested to close or obtain a time extension for a follow-up procedure at approximately XA00 CDT. Upon examination of work performed, it was determined that no discrepancy existed at the time that I had granted the extension for further evaluation. When employee X entered the log, it then contained a known discrepancy. Per company, this is not allowed on a follow-up procedure, and due to the nature of this discrepancy, I would have pulled the aircraft's flight release until the discrepancy had been repaired and the system integrity had been restored.

Title: A MEDIUM LARGE TRANSPORT WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE WITH A DEFERRED MAINT FOLLOW UP IN CONFLICT WITH THE PROCS MANUAL.
Narrative: DURING OVERNIGHT MAINT OF ACFT X IN ZZZ, EMPLOYEE X HAD REQUESTED TO CLOSE OR OBTAIN A TIME EXTENSION FOR A FOLLOW-UP PROC AT APPROX XA00 CDT.
