Bearr 4 arrival, salt lake city, ut, FL270. Given crossing restr to cross bearr intersection at 16000 ft/250 KTS. During this time had electrical generator abnormal/emergency with #1 engine. Asked first officer to fly aircraft. During conversation with company mechanics and reading procedure, looked up and noticed first officer had not started descent for crossing restr. Instructed first officer to descend and informed ZSE of situation and that we were not requiring assistance but would not be able to comply with crossing/speed restr. There was no conflict with other aircraft.
