Narrative:

I was called out to aircraft X to take duct tape -- for no specific reason. Found aisle armrest cap coming loose at or about 2- or 3D (seat location). I tried to secure the armrest cap but could not get screw started. The plane was about to push, so I secured the armrest cap with duct tape so nobody could get caught up on it. I did not make a log entry because I did not want to take a delay for doing so. About an hour or so later, maintenance control called me and asked if I had used and/or left a razor blade on that aircraft. I said no. I did not have or use a razor blade on that aircraft. I was told the aircraft was being diverted because of the razor blade that was found in the aft portion of the cabin. Because of all the attention now being drawn towards this aircraft, I realized that I should have documented the seat and deferred maintenance action in the logbook. Maintenance control was notified and said it would be documented.

Narrative: I WAS CALLED OUT TO ACFT X TO TAKE DUCT TAPE -- FOR NO SPECIFIC REASON. I DID NOT HAVE OR USE A RAZOR BLADE ON THAT ACFT. I WAS TOLD THE ACFT WAS BEING DIVERTED BECAUSE OF THE RAZOR BLADE THAT WAS FOUND IN THE AFT PORTION OF THE CABIN. BECAUSE OF ALL THE ATTN NOW BEING DRAWN TOWARDS THIS ACFT, I REALIZED THAT I SHOULD HAVE DOCUMENTED THE SEAT AND DEFERRED MAINT ACTION IN THE LOGBOOK.
