Narrative:

On approach to det, ATIS reported winds from 030 degrees at 16 KTS and runway 33 in use. On base to final, I asked for a wind check and was told the winds were 060 degrees at 20 KTS (a 20 KT direct crosswind). We informed the controller we were going around and would like runway 7, which was approved. We landed on runway 7 and taxied back for another pattern. After landing a second time on runway 7, the controller issued our taxi clearance 'skyhawk, turn right when able, taxi to runway 33.' on rollout, we were unable to stop before crossing the runway 33 hold line on runway 7, and the first right we were able to make was runway 33. We turned onto runway 33, back-taxied to taxiway J, made a right turn on taxiway J, and taxied past the hold short lines on taxiway J for runway 33. We then made a 120 degree turn and held short for our takeoff clearance. Though not specifically cleared to taxi on runway 33 (the active by ATIS), the controller implied we could by his taxi clearance. To avoid this potential conflict in the future, I should query the controller and get a specific clearance.

Title: RWY INCURSION BY A C172 TRAINING FLT AT DET, MI.

Narrative: ON APCH TO DET, ATIS RPTED WINDS FROM 030 DEGS AT 16 KTS AND RWY 33 IN USE. ON BASE TO FINAL, I ASKED FOR A WIND CHK AND WAS TOLD THE WINDS WERE 060 DEGS AT 20 KTS (A 20 KT DIRECT XWIND). WE INFORMED THE CTLR WE WERE GOING AROUND AND WOULD LIKE RWY 7, WHICH WAS APPROVED. WE LANDED ON RWY 7 AND TAXIED BACK FOR ANOTHER PATTERN. AFTER LNDG A SECOND TIME ON RWY 7, THE CTLR ISSUED OUR TAXI CLRNC 'SKYHAWK, TURN R WHEN ABLE, TAXI TO RWY 33.' ON ROLLOUT, WE WERE UNABLE TO STOP BEFORE XING THE RWY 33 HOLD LINE ON RWY 7, AND THE FIRST R WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE WAS RWY 33. WE TURNED ONTO RWY 33, BACK-TAXIED TO TXWY J, MADE A R TURN ON TXWY J, AND TAXIED PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINES ON TXWY J FOR RWY 33. WE THEN MADE A 120 DEG TURN AND HELD SHORT FOR OUR TKOF CLRNC. THOUGH NOT SPECIFICALLY CLRED TO TAXI ON RWY 33 (THE ACTIVE BY ATIS), THE CTLR IMPLIED WE COULD BY HIS TAXI CLRNC. TO AVOID THIS POTENTIAL CONFLICT IN THE FUTURE, I SHOULD QUERY THE CTLR AND GET A SPECIFIC CLRNC.
