Narrative:
Traffic at the sector increased dramatically in a very short period of time, no warning was given by our illustrious tmu -- in fact the sector was 'red' at the time but without any notice there wasn't any time to get a tracker in to help. As a radar associate I was trying to keep up with the strips and looking to see if there were any aircraft that could be routed out of the sector. At the time of the incident I was actually off position physically, getting more strip holders. Restrs should have been placed at the departure airports to help the flow. If tmu had been doing their job, I feel the radar controller would have been more effective in his scan.
