Narrative:

While on an IFR arrival to mtn, we were cleared for a visual approach and switched to CTAF. After landing, ATC informed us we squawked 1200 while in the ADIZ. I was an extra pilot on the flight, not at the controls, but do not recall the crew switching to 1200. If they did, it was a mistake done unintentionally by the crew. If this happens in the future, I would think ATC would inform the crew of this mistake and the correct code could be re-entered. This is similar to what would be done if the transponder stopped working.
