Narrative:
ATC gave taxi instructions, 'taxi to runway 25L via taxiway K, runway 13.' ATC told us to stop because we were past the hold short line on runway 13 for runway 25L. On the airport diagram, there is a taxiway 'north' that does not exist between the two runways. The hold short line on runway 13 is faded and weed covered. We did not conflict with runway 25L landing traffic. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: he did not even notice hold signs for this hold line. He said that this could be because he was heads down during the taxi completing first officer tasks. The reporter also has concern about the airport diagram indicating a taxiway 'north' at the approach end of runways 31 and 25L. Supplemental information from acn 625045: we didn't quite make it to taxiway 'M' when tower informed us that we were past the hold short line. There was an aircraft on final, but we were no factor.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B737-200 FLT CREW TAXIES ACROSS THE RWY 25L HOLD SHORT LINE LOCATED ON RWY 13 DUE TO THE LINE'S POOR CONDITION.
Narrative: ATC GAVE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, 'TAXI TO RWY 25L VIA TXWY K, RWY 13.' ATC TOLD US TO STOP BECAUSE WE WERE PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE ON RWY 13 FOR RWY 25L. ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM, THERE IS A TXWY 'N' THAT DOES NOT EXIST BETWEEN THE TWO RWYS. THE HOLD SHORT LINE ON RWY 13 IS FADED AND WEED COVERED. WE DID NOT CONFLICT WITH RWY 25L LNDG TFC. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: HE DID NOT EVEN NOTICE HOLD SIGNS FOR THIS HOLD LINE. HE SAID THAT THIS COULD BE BECAUSE HE WAS HEADS DOWN DURING THE TAXI COMPLETING FO TASKS. THE RPTR ALSO HAS CONCERN ABOUT THE ARPT DIAGRAM INDICATING A TXWY 'N' AT THE APCH END OF RWYS 31 AND 25L. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 625045: WE DIDN'T QUITE MAKE IT TO TXWY 'M' WHEN TWR INFORMED US THAT WE WERE PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE. THERE WAS AN ACFT ON FINAL, BUT WE WERE NO FACTOR.
