Narrative:
Just after liftoff, we noticed the master warning and 'tail compartment temperature' light annunciators (red box) was completed and the checklist was continued. The tail compartment temperature high light did not extinguish in the 2 min allotted time, so an emergency was declared and we returned to dfw to land approximately 6000 pounds overweight. The landing was otherwise normal.
