Narrative:
I arrived at the aircraft with my crew approximately 45 mins before departure. I accomplished the external preflight check. We ran the before start checklist. I noticed the parking brake was set. I asked my first officer if he had set it, he stated no. The aircraft had been loaded (partially) and fueled before our arrival. We completed the checklist, started, then taxied out. While taxiing out we encountered a maintenance issue that required a block-turn back. When we arrived back at the ramp and shut down, I asked the director of training to see if the parking brake on during loading warrants a logbook write-up. He said yes. I entered this into the aircraft logbook and an inspection was made. No damage was found.
