Narrative:

While in cruise flight we received a forward baggage smoke indication as we followed standard procedures including: 1) the first officer discharging the fire extinguishers. 2) diverting to msn. 3) notifying company and flight attendant. I took over the aircraft after we were preparing to land due to the first officer's nausea caused by the halon fire extinguishers. The first officer was very sick from the exposure. I had a mild headache. We were sent to the hospital for observation and released a few hours later.
