Narrative:

I was told today by the station chairman that the oil cup was found off of one of the engines. I signed for my 'P/south' and I want to report it. I checked and svced engine's oil the same way every shift and have for the last 24 yrs and can't understand how it could not have been secured after servicing the oil, because I am very picky about it. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the engine oil was svced on the overnight layover and he was certain the oil cap was installed. When asked by the analyst 'what is the difference between the oil cup and the oil cap? The reporter answered 'same thing.'
