Narrative:
Upon inspection found 2 1/2 inch crack, and at middle of crack there was a perpendicular crack which extended through the lip of the left wheel well channel. There was no way to stop drill the crack on the lip due to the fact there was no material left. The perpendicular crack was approximately 1 inch long. Stop drilled crack vertical and per company repair document 53-1-00-13 repair continued aircraft in service.

Title: AN MD80 L MAIN LNDG GEAR CHANNEL WAS FOUND WITH 2 CRACKS ONE 2 PT 5 INCH IN LENGTH WITH SECOND VERT CRACK FROM MIDDLE EXTENDS TO LIP.
Narrative: UPON INSPECTION FOUND 2 1/2 INCH CRACK, AND AT MIDDLE OF CRACK THERE WAS A PERPENDICULAR CRACK WHICH EXTENDED THROUGH THE LIP OF THE L WHEEL WELL CHANNEL. THERE WAS NO WAY TO STOP DRILL THE CRACK ON THE LIP DUE TO THE FACT THERE WAS NO MATERIAL LEFT. THE PERPENDICULAR CRACK WAS APPROX 1 INCH LONG. STOP DRILLED CRACK VERT AND PER COMPANY REPAIR DOCUMENT 53-1-00-13 REPAIR CONTINUED ACFT IN SVC.
