Narrative:

Flying VFR with onboard WX; I elected not to file IFR so as to remain clear of significant WX. WX; taf's had been checked on-line prior to departure. The onboard WX showed a clear course for my route of flight and no precipitation in my path. Visually the course ahead was clear. While maneuvering; I encountered rain and went IMC for 3-4 mins before descending to VFR conditions. In retrospect; I placed too much reliance on technology. Next flight will be with ATC and coordination with them in relation to onboard WX. Technically advanced aircraft such as the cirrus should not be viewed as a substitute for common sense in flying.
