Narrative:
On may/thu/05; I was the lead technician on aircraft X in ZZZ working on a broken #5 slat cable and cable rig. While replacing and rigging the #5 slat cable on the r-hand wing; the maintenance manual required us to check the rig on the left wing. In doing so; we discovered a cable guide; that is used for the starting point of the rig; was missing. Installation of a new guide was quick and simple. We continued with the rig. It has been brought to my attention that the installation was not documented as well as the discrepancy of the cable guide being missing. Under the circumstances of it being 105+ degrees outside; and the installation took only a few mins; we overlooked the importance of documenting this item. I personally verified that a new guide was installed and safetied with a cotter key before the access panel was installed.
