Narrative:
I was servicing engine oil on aircraft X. I had a second mechanic working with me when he came over to #2 engine and asked questions concerning the service check. I was then distraction from my work on the engine. Consequently; the result was the oil cap was left off tank and door was left open. I feel painting the inside of service door of the engine cowl would help prevent this being missed on pilot walkaround and dispatch door and panel check prior to departure.
