Narrative:
While working the liberty west position; I became aware of conflict between an aircraft X and air carrier Y due to resolution alert. I took action to maintain separation at this time. In my opinion; the conditions (swap with numerous in trail restrs) and several login problems including staffing shortages (coordinator position not staffed) diverted my attention and contributed to this incident. Information derived from flight plan strip is necessary for planning sequence of aircraft being vectored vors not readily available. This was due to the fact that almost all flight plans were not within reach and had to be full routed; as well as lack of strip holders. This had the effect of eliminating strip marking and caused my handoff controller to have to retrieve the necessary information; thus removing redundancies (strip marking and handoff being able to perform the monitoring of traffic situations as they develop). These system act as a fail safe.

Title: N90 CTLR EXPERIENCED OPERROR AT 16000 FT WHEN DISTR BY OTHER EVENTS.
Narrative: WHILE WORKING THE LIBERTY W POS; I BECAME AWARE OF CONFLICT BTWN AN ACFT X AND ACR Y DUE TO RESOLUTION ALERT. I TOOK ACTION TO MAINTAIN SEPARATION AT THIS TIME. IN MY OPINION; THE CONDITIONS (SWAP WITH NUMEROUS IN TRAIL RESTRS) AND SEVERAL LOGIN PROBS INCLUDING STAFFING SHORTAGES (COORDINATOR POS NOT STAFFED) DIVERTED MY ATTN AND CONTRIBUTED TO THIS INCIDENT. INFO DERIVED FROM FLT PLAN STRIP IS NECESSARY FOR PLANNING SEQUENCE OF ACFT BEING VECTORED VORS NOT READILY AVAILABLE. THIS WAS DUE TO THE FACT THAT ALMOST ALL FLT PLANS WERE NOT WITHIN REACH AND HAD TO BE FULL ROUTED; AS WELL AS LACK OF STRIP HOLDERS. THIS HAD THE EFFECT OF ELIMINATING STRIP MARKING AND CAUSED MY HDOF CTLR TO HAVE TO RETRIEVE THE NECESSARY INFO; THUS REMOVING REDUNDANCIES (STRIP MARKING AND HDOF BEING ABLE TO PERFORM THE MONITORING OF TFC SITUATIONS AS THEY DEVELOP). THESE SYS ACT AS A FAIL SAFE.
