Narrative:
Assigned to cross dewit at FL320 by ZOB. 3 frequency changes prior to reaching top of descent from FL340 (ie; stepdown just a few mi from intersection). Hit dewit at FL340 and started down. ATC never made mention of the altitude deviation. Flight progressed normally. My failure as the PNF to read the crossing restr upon each of the frequency changes contributed to missing the restr. ATC's failure to query the altitude and restr was also a contributing factor. Another factor contributing to my complacency in reading the altitude restr upon each frequency change was my company's 'dependency tracking policy.' I'm currently flying with a cold that is not bad enough to warrant a trip to the doctor's office. I've noticed that it is bad enough to affect my performance. In the future; I'm planning on calling in sick when I'm on the borderline; regardless of company policy.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLT CREW OF A319 FAIL TO MEET XING RESTR.
Narrative: ASSIGNED TO CROSS DEWIT AT FL320 BY ZOB. 3 FREQ CHANGES PRIOR TO REACHING TOP OF DSCNT FROM FL340 (IE; STEPDOWN JUST A FEW MI FROM INTXN). HIT DEWIT AT FL340 AND STARTED DOWN. ATC NEVER MADE MENTION OF THE ALTDEV. FLT PROGRESSED NORMALLY. MY FAILURE AS THE PNF TO READ THE XING RESTR UPON EACH OF THE FREQ CHANGES CONTRIBUTED TO MISSING THE RESTR. ATC'S FAILURE TO QUERY THE ALT AND RESTR WAS ALSO A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. ANOTHER FACTOR CONTRIBUTING TO MY COMPLACENCY IN READING THE ALT RESTR UPON EACH FREQ CHANGE WAS MY COMPANY'S 'DEPENDENCY TRACKING POLICY.' I'M CURRENTLY FLYING WITH A COLD THAT IS NOT BAD ENOUGH TO WARRANT A TRIP TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. I'VE NOTICED THAT IT IS BAD ENOUGH TO AFFECT MY PERFORMANCE. IN THE FUTURE; I'M PLANNING ON CALLING IN SICK WHEN I'M ON THE BORDERLINE; REGARDLESS OF COMPANY POLICY.
