Narrative:
We started our taxi to runway 24 at A6. We were instructed to hold short of runway 24 which we read back and did. After several mins; tower stated 'aircraft 1; cleared for immediate takeoff; traffic on 3 mi final.' at this time; we read this back and completed our before takeoff checklist. On takeoff roll; aircraft 2 cut us off. We aborted takeoff and cleared the runway. The B737 on final had to go around due to the incursion. In the future; tower could use the whole tail number to prevent these occurrences. In this situation; our aircraft (aircraft 1) was cleared for takeoff; but the other aircraft (who was aircraft 2) thought he was. If we had not aborted the takeoff when we did; it could have resulted in an accident.

Title: ACFT DEP FROM BHM ABORTED TKOF WHEN TFC WITH SIMILAR ALPHA NUMERIC ENTERED RWY WITHOUT ATC CLRNC; ACFT ON FINAL ISSUED GAR.
Narrative: WE STARTED OUR TAXI TO RWY 24 AT A6. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 24 WHICH WE READ BACK AND DID. AFTER SEVERAL MINS; TWR STATED 'ACFT 1; CLRED FOR IMMEDIATE TKOF; TFC ON 3 MI FINAL.' AT THIS TIME; WE READ THIS BACK AND COMPLETED OUR BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST. ON TKOF ROLL; ACFT 2 CUT US OFF. WE ABORTED TKOF AND CLRED THE RWY. THE B737 ON FINAL HAD TO GO AROUND DUE TO THE INCURSION. IN THE FUTURE; TWR COULD USE THE WHOLE TAIL NUMBER TO PREVENT THESE OCCURRENCES. IN THIS SITUATION; OUR ACFT (ACFT 1) WAS CLRED FOR TKOF; BUT THE OTHER ACFT (WHO WAS ACFT 2) THOUGHT HE WAS. IF WE HAD NOT ABORTED THE TKOF WHEN WE DID; IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT.
