Narrative:

During a main engine control change on the #1 engine on air carrier X; the variable stator vane cable needed to be changed. A new cable was ordered and put at the aircraft for the oncoming shift to install. It was discovered later that this cable was the wrong part number for this aircraft but only on the #1 engine -- it's ok for the #2 engine.

Title: A B737-400 HAD THE #1 ENG MAIN ENG CTL REPLACED FOUND VARIABLE STATOR VANE FEEDBACK CABLE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. REPLACED WITH INCORRECT CABLE.

Narrative: DURING A MAIN ENG CTL CHANGE ON THE #1 ENG ON ACR X; THE VARIABLE STATOR VANE CABLE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED. A NEW CABLE WAS ORDERED AND PUT AT THE ACFT FOR THE ONCOMING SHIFT TO INSTALL. IT WAS DISCOVERED LATER THAT THIS CABLE WAS THE WRONG PART NUMBER FOR THIS ACFT BUT ONLY ON THE #1 ENG -- IT'S OK FOR THE #2 ENG.
