Narrative:

During a routine glider flight in the hood river; oregon; area; I got distraction by another glider while maneuvering with him. We got blown on the lee side of the ridge and lost lift at 2500 ft MSL. I tried to get back over the ridge line but due to excessive winds and sink I was unable to do so. I made an off-airport landing with no injuries and minor aircraft damage to the wing and tail section. My power plane skills had a negative xfer of me watching my altitude and lift conditions more closely.
