Narrative:
Today aug/mon/06; I was informed that the laptop computer aboard aircraft X was not updated back on may/mon/06. Whether the flight crew found this out during preflight; taxi or in-flight; I have no knowledge. The flight crews flew the aircraft for one or two months without making a logbook entry. The problem was resolved upon the next scheduled update of the laptop computer. The pilot reported himself for flying with the laptop out of date and I was informed about the problem. On may/mon/06; I was assigned job cards to update the cockpit laptop computer and FMC. At the time I thought I had redundant paperwork. I think this happened because one job card states the navigation data discs are a certain color and the other job card states the disc color is the same. The cockpit laptop computer/laptop does not use a disc; it uses a pcmcia card to xfer data. The job card should state 'update of laptop computer' using pcmcia card.
