Narrative:
Was told by my lead that the contract carrier notified him that I was qualified to do the schedule check. When I brought it to the lead's attention that I was not qualified; the carrier maintenance controller told the lead technician that I was qualified when in fact later it was found that I was not qualified to do this check and to sign the airworthy release.
