Narrative:
While inspecting and buying off work structural repair performed on aircraft; the mechanic and I used maintenance program to close out multiple discrepancies that were covered under 1 engineering authority/authorized that called for the completed repair to be re-inspected at intervals (4000 initially -- 5000 respectively). After completing the entries in maintenance program and the deferral information (none of which has any maintenance procedures manual instructional information); the task was sent to me for quality check 'buyoff.' after reviewing the documentation on the maintenance program screen; I 'final inspected' the task. The data processed and my cover sheet came into view. I was quite surprised to see my name in both the 'repaired by' and 'inspected by' blocks. This is a direct violation of FARS and the maintenance procedures manual. I was assured by the coordinator on duty that this is 'only' a cover sheet; and not official documentation. I cannot find anything in writing; either in the maintenance procedures manual or the maintenance program 'help' screens; that indicates this printable document is not official. If this is true; then should the document not be 'watermarked' or noted that it is for reference only? I am very concerned with this; especially as we are expanding the system to 'C' check and we still do not have any maintenance procedures manual written instructional procedures for the basic form tasks. I have been assured these documents; even though they reflect me doing the work and inspecting it; are not official -- but once again; where is this written? Why does it happen? And I feel it should be fixed and procedures written for the use of maintenance program.
