Narrative:
Aircraft X arrived ZZZ with captain's/first officer's HSI display CRT incorrect format. Troubleshooting found change order authority/authorized accomplished by vendor had left mis-wired bench plug on symbol generators. Both vendors failed to accomplish change order authority/authorized per coa. Vendor signed off change order authority/authorized operations check as normal; however; it was incorrectly operations checked. Vendor read change order authority/authorized instructions backwards. Should have wired bench plug left or right. Vendor wired bench plug right to left. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the bench plugs on the symbol generators were wired incorrectly. Wiring was corrected at the bench plugs. Checks ok.

Title: A B737-300 HAD A CHANGE ORDER AUTH ACCOMPLISHED BY A CONTRACT MAINT FACILITY. BOTH HSI CRT DISPLAYS HAD EXTRA RADAR RANGE LINES ADDED AND WAS WRONG CONFIGN.
Narrative: ACFT X ARRIVED ZZZ WITH CAPT'S/FO'S HSI DISPLAY CRT INCORRECT FORMAT. TROUBLESHOOTING FOUND CHANGE ORDER AUTH ACCOMPLISHED BY VENDOR HAD L MIS-WIRED BENCH PLUG ON SYMBOL GENERATORS. BOTH VENDORS FAILED TO ACCOMPLISH CHANGE ORDER AUTH PER COA. VENDOR SIGNED OFF CHANGE ORDER AUTH OPS CHK AS NORMAL; HOWEVER; IT WAS INCORRECTLY OPS CHKED. VENDOR READ CHANGE ORDER AUTH INSTRUCTIONS BACKWARDS. SHOULD HAVE WIRED BENCH PLUG L OR R. VENDOR WIRED BENCH PLUG R TO L. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE BENCH PLUGS ON THE SYMBOL GENERATORS WERE WIRED INCORRECTLY. WIRING WAS CORRECTED AT THE BENCH PLUGS. CHKS OK.
