Narrative:

Kennedy one departure -- canarsie climb. When turning to join the cri 176 degree radial; the controller said I missed the fix. I started the turn too early to lead the turn; 200 KTS and a strong headwind. I noticed it was too early and stopped the turn; but should have been more aggressive to be on top of the fix. The reason I started the turn early was because of previous operations notes explaining how they do not want you to overshoot the 176 degree radial. I will go back to flying the departure like I have hundreds of times before. I was very tired and will be more aggressive next time. I should have taken into account the higher than normal wind and my speed was 200 KTS to avoid turbulence down below.
