Narrative:
We encountered wake turbulence from a heavy while on the sadde.SADDE6 ave transition arrival into lax for runway 24R. We were approximately 12000 ft MSL in the vicinity of fillmore and behind the heavy with 9 mi of separation. After the wake turbulence encounter ATC instructed us to slow to 250 KTS and descend to 10000 ft MSL. The first officer (PNF) advised ATC of the wake turbulence encounter and then ATC vectored us away from the heavy. The captain checked in with the flight attendants and they said they were ok and no one was injured. After we taxied to the gate the flight attendants informed us that we needed a major cleanup of the cabin (food and drinks got on the interior of the aircraft). Some passenger had drinks spilled on them. The captain then called company and informed company of the situation. The captain requested that a supervisor meet with the passenger who needed assistance because of the food spillage. The captain again asked the flight attendants if any one of the passenger or themselves were injured; the flight attendants again replied that no one was injured. All passenger were off the airplane when the crew deplaned.
