Narrative:
After takeoff; dispatch sent ACARS message that our passenger count on closeout was possibly incorrect. We conducted a physical count and it was higher than the load closeout. Dispatcher stated we were over runway limited weight because of 5 extra passenger. We could only go on the numbers on the closeout and they were wrong.

Title: MD80 FLT CREW TAKE OFF WITH THE INCORRECT WT AND BALANCE INFO.
Narrative: AFTER TKOF; DISPATCH SENT ACARS MESSAGE THAT OUR PAX COUNT ON CLOSEOUT WAS POSSIBLY INCORRECT. WE CONDUCTED A PHYSICAL COUNT AND IT WAS HIGHER THAN THE LOAD CLOSEOUT. DISPATCHER STATED WE WERE OVER RWY LIMITED WT BECAUSE OF 5 EXTRA PAX. WE COULD ONLY GO ON THE NUMBERS ON THE CLOSEOUT AND THEY WERE WRONG.
