Narrative:
After a re-fueling stop in publication; ground control cleared us to taxi to runway 8L. During taxi out; I crossed from the ramp area onto runway 8R by accident for about 15 to 20 seconds before turing back onto the ramp area. This was my first visit to publication. I was the pilot taxiing and the captain was head down in the cockpit when I made the incursion. The ramp area and runway 8R are all one big paved area with no grass between them and the pavement markings are somewhat weathered. All these factors led to my mistake. We were the only aircraft moving on the ground at the time and there were no aircraft in the pattern. I'm not sure if the controller noticed my mistake since nothing was mentioned to us over the radio. I will definitely be more careful the next time I visit publication!
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN LR 60 TAXIED ONTO RWY 8R DEPARTING THE PUB RAMP AREA BECAUSE THE TXWY IS DIFFICULT TO DISTINGUISH FROM THE RWY.
Narrative: AFTER A RE-FUELING STOP IN PUB; GND CTL CLRED US TO TAXI TO RWY 8L. DURING TAXI OUT; I CROSSED FROM THE RAMP AREA ONTO RWY 8R BY ACCIDENT FOR ABOUT 15 TO 20 SECONDS BEFORE TURING BACK ONTO THE RAMP AREA. THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT TO PUB. I WAS THE PLT TAXIING AND THE CAPT WAS HEAD DOWN IN THE COCKPIT WHEN I MADE THE INCURSION. THE RAMP AREA AND RWY 8R ARE ALL ONE BIG PAVED AREA WITH NO GRASS BETWEEN THEM AND THE PAVEMENT MARKINGS ARE SOMEWHAT WEATHERED. ALL THESE FACTORS LED TO MY MISTAKE. WE WERE THE ONLY ACFT MOVING ON THE GND AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE NO ACFT IN THE PATTERN. I'M NOT SURE IF THE CTLR NOTICED MY MISTAKE SINCE NOTHING WAS MENTIONED TO US OVER THE RADIO. I WILL DEFINITELY BE MORE CAREFUL THE NEXT TIME I VISIT PUB!
