Narrative:
Local controller held us for takeoff for more than 9 minutes. Many opportunities to have us depart; put us between arrivals; put us or other traffic on alternate runways; etc. ATC did none. When we taxied out a beech 1900 airliner did not have engines running. He took them off on crossing runway and held us for crossing traffic after we had held for more than 5 minutes. One aircraft doing touch and go's did 2 in front of us. When finally released he cleared us for takeoff and immediately demanded a read back while I was on the takeoff roll. I prefer to direct all my attention to the aircraft; not some incompetent sitting in the tower. Training and supervision lacking at publication.
