Narrative:
Working north departure (sector 38); a line of thunderstorms started to develop. I asked management to put out a mi in trail restr; which they did. Approach failed to provide the mi in trail; the sector became overloaded. Aircraft couldn't get a word in or request to go around WX. Numerous aircraft started doing their own thing to avoid WX. I asked that all atl departures coming out north gates be stopped. Approach and tower then 'flushed' what they had; overloading the sector even more. When management called to ask why they didn't stop the departures; all A80 did was say sorry and that the tower kept launching them. This attitude and the fact that we got no help from tmu is not a safety mindset -- it's a business mindset of trying to keep the airlines on time; instead of safe. Additionally; where controllers used to be able to take control of the situationuation by making approach hold aircraft or rerte them; we feel as if we cannot do that anymore; for the FAA has suspended several controllers for that.

Title: ZTL CTLR VOICED CONCERN REGARDING LACK OF TFC MGMNT ACTIONS TO LIMIT SECTOR VOLUME; WITH WX FACTORS COMPLICATING WORKLOAD.
Narrative: WORKING N DEP (SECTOR 38); A LINE OF TSTMS STARTED TO DEVELOP. I ASKED MGMNT TO PUT OUT A MI IN TRAIL RESTR; WHICH THEY DID. APCH FAILED TO PROVIDE THE MI IN TRAIL; THE SECTOR BECAME OVERLOADED. ACFT COULDN'T GET A WORD IN OR REQUEST TO GO AROUND WX. NUMEROUS ACFT STARTED DOING THEIR OWN THING TO AVOID WX. I ASKED THAT ALL ATL DEPS COMING OUT N GATES BE STOPPED. APCH AND TWR THEN 'FLUSHED' WHAT THEY HAD; OVERLOADING THE SECTOR EVEN MORE. WHEN MGMNT CALLED TO ASK WHY THEY DIDN'T STOP THE DEPS; ALL A80 DID WAS SAY SORRY AND THAT THE TWR KEPT LAUNCHING THEM. THIS ATTITUDE AND THE FACT THAT WE GOT NO HELP FROM TMU IS NOT A SAFETY MINDSET -- IT'S A BUSINESS MINDSET OF TRYING TO KEEP THE AIRLINES ON TIME; INSTEAD OF SAFE. ADDITIONALLY; WHERE CTLRS USED TO BE ABLE TO TAKE CTL OF THE SITUATIONUATION BY MAKING APCH HOLD ACFT OR RERTE THEM; WE FEEL AS IF WE CANNOT DO THAT ANYMORE; FOR THE FAA HAS SUSPENDED SEVERAL CTLRS FOR THAT.
