Narrative:

First officer was flying out of teb. We were very aware of the 1500 ft altitude restriction and made a large power change at 400 ft AGL; and then retracted the flaps. We then climbed very slowly to 1500 ft; and were switched to departure control. At 1500 ft MSL the FMS commanded a turn to 280 degrees as per the SID and I saw 4.5 DME from teb and instructed the first officer to climb to 2000 ft MSL. I also made this statement to departure control. The controller stopped us and told us we were still dragging the ewr airspace. Within a matter of a few seconds we were instructed to turn to 300 degrees and climb to 6000 ft MSL. I am not sure if I misread the DME. However we did climb up to 1700 MSL before the controller corrected us. I think the slow climb and the intensity of flying out of teb may have caused this confusion.

Title: C-56X FLT CREW DEPARTING TEB PENETRATED EWR AIRSPACE AS THEY CLIMBED FROM 1500 FT ON THE TEB FIVE DEP.

Narrative: FO WAS FLYING OUT OF TEB. AT 1500 FT MSL THE FMS COMMANDED A TURN TO 280 DEGREES AS PER THE SID AND I SAW 4.5 DME FROM TEB AND INSTRUCTED THE FO TO CLIMB TO 2000 FT MSL.
