Narrative:

Expected ceilings no less than 4500 MSL at teb. Cruising to teb at 3500 MSL encountered icing just north of phl in aircraft not anti-icing equipped. Received permission to enter new york TCA. Due to icing requested descent to 2500 MSL, approved by ATC. Landed at teb. Hustled on ground to get out before WX got much worse. 30 to 45 mins later, I was ready to depart teb. Requested VFR clearance west to stay out of TCA. Clearance delivery approved with no departure frequency. Took off out of teb and immediately turned west navigating to bwz VOR/DME. I was so busy worrying about staying out of the TCA that I failed to notice essex county and morristown airports were air traffic area's. I never saw either of the airports. This may have been because teb suggested a heading of 240 a few mins after I departed. I didn't have a new york TCA chart. After flying 240 for a few mins, teb tower asked me what my heading was. Dg said 240 but magnetic compass said 180. Teb suggested another heading. Then I began using sbj VORTAC for navigation. When DME assured me I was out of TCA, I requested frequency change from teb and began navigating to ard VORTAC northeast of phl. After passing ard I immediately turned south and began navigating to eno. I asked philadelphia for permission to enter TCA and was told to switch frequencys several times when the last controller told me I was not heading towards their TCA and he suggested I call mcguire approach. Mcguire also told me that I was not going through his airspace. When I reached delaware river/bay, I knew I was clear of phl TCA. I may have entered air traffic area's and TCA's without knowing. I think teb gave me my first vector to keep me out of essex county air traffic area. Now I'm thinking that since my dg/magnetic compass didn't agree that I may have entered ny TCA but teb did give me a new vector, so maybe I was clear. Then in philadelphia, I intended to enter the TCA but was told that I wasn't going to enter. I really don't think I did, but may have.

REQUESTED VFR CLRNC W TO STAY OUT OF TCA. CLRNC DELIVERY APPROVED WITH NO DEP FREQ. TOOK OFF OUT OF TEB AND IMMEDIATELY TURNED W NAVIGATING TO BWZ VOR/DME. DG SAID 240 BUT MAG COMPASS SAID 180. TEB SUGGESTED ANOTHER HDG. THEN I BEGAN USING SBJ VORTAC FOR NAVIGATION. WHEN DME ASSURED ME I WAS OUT OF TCA, I REQUESTED FREQ CHANGE FROM TEB AND BEGAN NAVIGATING TO ARD VORTAC NE OF PHL. AFTER PASSING ARD I IMMEDIATELY TURNED S AND BEGAN NAVIGATING TO ENO. I ASKED PHILADELPHIA FOR PERMISSION TO ENTER TCA AND WAS TOLD TO SWITCH FREQS SEVERAL TIMES WHEN THE LAST CTLR TOLD ME I WAS NOT HDG TOWARDS THEIR TCA AND HE SUGGESTED I CALL MCGUIRE APCH. MCGUIRE ALSO TOLD ME THAT I WAS NOT GOING THROUGH HIS AIRSPACE. WHEN I REACHED DELAWARE RIVER/BAY, I KNEW I WAS CLEAR OF PHL TCA. I MAY HAVE ENTERED ATA'S AND TCA'S WITHOUT KNOWING. I THINK TEB GAVE ME MY FIRST VECTOR TO KEEP ME OUT OF ESSEX COUNTY ATA. NOW I'M THINKING THAT SINCE MY DG/MAG COMPASS DIDN'T AGREE THAT I MAY HAVE ENTERED NY TCA BUT TEB DID GIVE ME A NEW VECTOR, SO MAYBE I WAS CLEAR. THEN IN PHILADELPHIA, I INTENDED TO ENTER THE TCA BUT WAS TOLD THAT I WASN'T GOING TO ENTER. I REALLY DON'T THINK I DID, BUT MAY HAVE.
