Narrative:
The last 2 airplanes we worked on either had or did not have revisions incorporated drawings. During a conversation on the package of engineering change order card number X showed an engineering revision that was not incorporated into our maintenance package. How are we supposed to complete a plane in a quality manner; if we are required to chase down past workers to determine if a revision exist. Revision was not incorporated in today's dated paperwork for company aircraft number. Paperwork engineering change order was noted in engineering; but never presented to maintenance accomplishing the work. Came upon engineering revision while talking to the engineer. We are having problems with revision not being incorporated into paperwork. Engineering is required to process a revision within a timely process; how come it takes so long to generate the required form to start paperwork. Also; why does it take so long to incorporate a completed revision document from engineering into the callout of work package. So as a mechanic I need proper paperwork to accomplish quality work within a timely process. This process with revisions paperwork is a problem with this base. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated this is an ongoing problem and little has been done to speed up the process of incorporating the floor revisions to the full paper package that are also used on similar aircraft with the same type of maintenance visit. Reporter also believes a 24-hour time period is the window that company policy requires any revisions be incorporated. Changes to the maintenance manual however; are an entirely different matter.
