Narrative:
A helicopter was climbing through 11000 ft MSL and we were in the pattern turning right to enter a left base for runway 7; also at 1100 ft MSL. The controller did not call out traffic until the helicopter was past us. He was less than 150 ft from our aircraft. We nearly hit the helicopter 4 NM west of runway 7.
