Narrative:
During IMC CAT 3 approachs to dfw; approach and tower was assigning 180 KTS to the FAF for runway 17R. The aircraft ahead of us executed a missed approach. We declined ATC's request to fly 180 KTS to (what amounted to 5 mi from the end of the runway). Approach said if we couldn't comply then they would have to break us off from the approach. I (captain) said to do whatever you have to do; I would not accept that. They broke us off. Prior to next approach; I stated; again; that I would not accept 180 KTS to the marker; and to go ahead and let me know now so I could go ahead and begin executing my alternate airport plans. Approach complied with my request and we flew a normal CAT 3 autoland to runway 17C; this time. These requests from approach and tower are not within the operational parameters of our aircraft; procedures; and training.

Title: ACR VOICED CONCERN WITH ATC SPEED ASSIGNMENT OF 180 KTS TO FAF DURING CAT III APCH PROCS AT DFW.
Narrative: DURING IMC CAT 3 APCHS TO DFW; APCH AND TWR WAS ASSIGNING 180 KTS TO THE FAF FOR RWY 17R. THE ACFT AHEAD OF US EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. WE DECLINED ATC'S REQUEST TO FLY 180 KTS TO (WHAT AMOUNTED TO 5 MI FROM THE END OF THE RWY). APCH SAID IF WE COULDN'T COMPLY THEN THEY WOULD HAVE TO BREAK US OFF FROM THE APCH. I (CAPT) SAID TO DO WHATEVER YOU HAVE TO DO; I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT. THEY BROKE US OFF. PRIOR TO NEXT APCH; I STATED; AGAIN; THAT I WOULD NOT ACCEPT 180 KTS TO THE MARKER; AND TO GO AHEAD AND LET ME KNOW NOW SO I COULD GO AHEAD AND BEGIN EXECUTING MY ALTERNATE ARPT PLANS. APCH COMPLIED WITH MY REQUEST AND WE FLEW A NORMAL CAT 3 AUTOLAND TO RWY 17C; THIS TIME. THESE REQUESTS FROM APCH AND TWR ARE NOT WITHIN THE OPERATIONAL PARAMETERS OF OUR ACFT; PROCS; AND TRAINING.
