Narrative:

I was positioned in a C152 at the hold short position area. I decided to do a left clearing turn to check for base and final traffic. The left brake failed during the turn and I ran off the taxiway and banged into a taxiway light. The taxiway light was hit with the propeller and the nosewheel; breaking the taxiway light and damaging the taxiway light and the aircraft's propeller. Pre-taxi I did a brake test in which both brakes were working properly. Also while taxiing to the hold short area I did use the brakes without any problems.
