Narrative:

After landing on runway 02R; made 90 degree turn onto taxiway K. Halfway through the turn; I noticed that taxiway K would take us onto the military apron. Stopped the aircraft and notified tower. Tower told us to expedite off the runway for landing traffic by making a left turn. Notified tower that we were unable to make a left turn back onto the runway and requested permission to taxi clear of the runway on taxiway K. Tower controller did not understand our request. There was a definite language problem. I broadcast on tower frequency that we were not clear of the runway; and the aircraft on final approach did a go around. For safety reasons; I taxied the aircraft clear of the runway on taxiway K; but did not at any time enter the military apron. Got pushed back onto the runway by tug and taxied to the gate. Taxiway K is not marked on commercial chart nor on company charts; but it is clearly marked with standard taxiway sign. It can be very misleading at night and with poor lighting; because current charts lead you to believe that taxiway east leads into the military apron. Airport officials told us that all txwys had been named with new signs recently; but this was not in any NOTAM and operations in svmc had not been notified about it.callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the closure of runway 02L was due to resurfacing the runway; and for that period; txwys between runway 02L and runway 02R were also not usable (the aircraft would end up on the closed runway). The reporter stated that what would appear to be the extension of taxiway east to the east of runway 02R is now designated taxiway K with an airport sign. This was the exit chosen by the crew after rollout on runway 02R. This taxiway leads to the military ramp; which is not to be entered according to the airline's operations specifications. Referring to the airport diagram; this would be the last usable runway exit under the circumstances when landing runway 02R. Unbeknownst to the crew (and not depicted on the diagram or mentioned by NOTAM) a hard surface has been prepared at either end of runway 02R/20L to allow for aircraft to complete a 180 degree turn at the end of this 98 ft wide runway. To the unfamiliar or unsuspecting flight crew; however; they could be led to believe that without that option at the end; they must plan to exit midfield.

Title: WDB EXITED RWY AND NEARLY ENTERED PROHIBITED MILITARY RAMP. UNABLE TO TURN WITHOUT ENTERING THIS RAMP; THE ACFT WAS ALSO NOT CLR OF THE RWY.

Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 02R; MADE 90 DEG TURN ONTO TXWY K. HALFWAY THROUGH THE TURN; I NOTICED THAT TXWY K WOULD TAKE US ONTO THE MILITARY APRON. STOPPED THE ACFT AND NOTIFIED TWR. TWR TOLD US TO EXPEDITE OFF THE RWY FOR LNDG TFC BY MAKING A L TURN. NOTIFIED TWR THAT WE WERE UNABLE TO MAKE A L TURN BACK ONTO THE RWY AND REQUESTED PERMISSION TO TAXI CLR OF THE RWY ON TXWY K. TWR CTLR DID NOT UNDERSTAND OUR REQUEST. THERE WAS A DEFINITE LANGUAGE PROB. I BROADCAST ON TWR FREQ THAT WE WERE NOT CLR OF THE RWY; AND THE ACFT ON FINAL APCH DID A GAR. FOR SAFETY REASONS; I TAXIED THE ACFT CLR OF THE RWY ON TXWY K; BUT DID NOT AT ANY TIME ENTER THE MILITARY APRON. GOT PUSHED BACK ONTO THE RWY BY TUG AND TAXIED TO THE GATE. TXWY K IS NOT MARKED ON COMMERCIAL CHART NOR ON COMPANY CHARTS; BUT IT IS CLEARLY MARKED WITH STANDARD TXWY SIGN. IT CAN BE VERY MISLEADING AT NIGHT AND WITH POOR LIGHTING; BECAUSE CURRENT CHARTS LEAD YOU TO BELIEVE THAT TXWY E LEADS INTO THE MILITARY APRON. ARPT OFFICIALS TOLD US THAT ALL TXWYS HAD BEEN NAMED WITH NEW SIGNS RECENTLY; BUT THIS WAS NOT IN ANY NOTAM AND OPS IN SVMC HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT IT.CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATED THE CLOSURE OF RWY 02L WAS DUE TO RESURFACING THE RWY; AND FOR THAT PERIOD; TXWYS BETWEEN RWY 02L AND RWY 02R WERE ALSO NOT USABLE (THE ACFT WOULD END UP ON THE CLOSED RWY). THE REPORTER STATED THAT WHAT WOULD APPEAR TO BE THE EXTENSION OF TXWY E TO THE E OF RWY 02R IS NOW DESIGNATED TXWY K WITH AN ARPT SIGN. THIS WAS THE EXIT CHOSEN BY THE CREW AFTER ROLLOUT ON RWY 02R. THIS TXWY LEADS TO THE MILITARY RAMP; WHICH IS NOT TO BE ENTERED ACCORDING TO THE AIRLINE'S OPS SPECS. REFERRING TO THE ARPT DIAGRAM; THIS WOULD BE THE LAST USABLE RWY EXIT UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES WHEN LNDG RWY 02R. UNBEKNOWNST TO THE CREW (AND NOT DEPICTED ON THE DIAGRAM OR MENTIONED BY NOTAM) A HARD SURFACE HAS BEEN PREPARED AT EITHER END OF RWY 02R/20L TO ALLOW FOR ACFT TO COMPLETE A 180 DEG TURN AT THE END OF THIS 98 FT WIDE RWY. TO THE UNFAMILIAR OR UNSUSPECTING FLT CREW; HOWEVER; THEY COULD BE LED TO BELIEVE THAT WITHOUT THAT OPTION AT THE END; THEY MUST PLAN TO EXIT MIDFIELD.
