Narrative:
On apr/xa/08 I was assigned to 3 aircraft as a lead amt. I was informed of this about 3 weeks later. I had mechanics assigned to the aircraft working the post paint items. I noticed that operation X was unsigned. I looked up and noticed that the static ports were unmasked. I did a quick walkaround of the aircraft. On most of our aircraft the static ports are on the forward portion of the aircraft. The static port that I missed I was informed that the tape was painted over with the color of the aircraft; that is why I missed it in my walkaround. I was also informed that the static port in question was not found until 2 weeks after I completed the work. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated the aircraft had just come out of a fuselage stripping and painting. The aft static port was completely covered with tape and new paint without any warning flags or stickers on the covered static port. Reporter stated he doesn't know if his carrier plans to add any procedures to their job cards to specifically identify covered static ports prior to any paint work.

I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE STATIC PORT IN QUESTION WAS NOT FOUND UNTIL 2 WKS AFTER I COMPLETED THE WORK. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: REPORTER STATED THE ACFT HAD JUST COME OUT OF A FUSELAGE STRIPPING AND PAINTING.
