Narrative:

In flight at FL260 with cruise power on the engine; a compressor stall like sound was heard. The engine indicating system showed np decreasing and itt increasing. The pilot controlled lighting was retarded to idle. However; the itt continued toward engine limits. The fuel was cutoff and the propeller feathered. Best glide speed was established and procedures for maximum range descent with single battery were accomplished. The ZZZ airport was selected as the nearest suitable field for an engine out recovery. I crossed ZZZ in the glide with more than enough altitude to fly the full overhead engine out pattern. The gear and flaps were lowered using battery power. The full pattern was flown to an uneventful landing on runway 1 at ZZZ. Center was extremely helpful throughout this event. They not only provided traffic clearance; but also confirmed WX; field elevation; etc. Since it was an uncontrolled field; I asked them to contact the local auths. Their efforts resulted in local crash fire rescue equipment and state police presence for my arrival.

Title: A PC12 ENG FAILED AT FL260. THE PILOT LANDED THE ACFT SAFELY AFTER DECLARING AN EMER AND GLIDING TO A NEARBY ARPT.

Narrative: IN FLT AT FL260 WITH CRUISE PWR ON THE ENG; A COMPRESSOR STALL LIKE SOUND WAS HEARD. THE ENG INDICATING SYS SHOWED NP DECREASING AND ITT INCREASING. THE PCL WAS RETARDED TO IDLE. HOWEVER; THE ITT CONTINUED TOWARD ENG LIMITS. THE FUEL WAS CUTOFF AND THE PROP FEATHERED. BEST GLIDE SPD WAS ESTABLISHED AND PROCS FOR MAX RANGE DSCNT WITH SINGLE BATTERY WERE ACCOMPLISHED. THE ZZZ ARPT WAS SELECTED AS THE NEAREST SUITABLE FIELD FOR AN ENG OUT RECOVERY. I CROSSED ZZZ IN THE GLIDE WITH MORE THAN ENOUGH ALT TO FLY THE FULL OVERHEAD ENG OUT PATTERN. THE GEAR AND FLAPS WERE LOWERED USING BATTERY PWR. THE FULL PATTERN WAS FLOWN TO AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG ON RWY 1 AT ZZZ. CTR WAS EXTREMELY HELPFUL THROUGHOUT THIS EVENT. THEY NOT ONLY PROVIDED TFC CLRNC; BUT ALSO CONFIRMED WX; FIELD ELEVATION; ETC. SINCE IT WAS AN UNCTLED FIELD; I ASKED THEM TO CONTACT THE LCL AUTHS. THEIR EFFORTS RESULTED IN LCL CFR AND STATE POLICE PRESENCE FOR MY ARR.
