Narrative:

I was the captain on a learjet leaving teb. The departure was runway heading to 1500 ft then turn 280 degrees reaching 4.5 DME climb to 2000 ft. The first officer was flying and I asked him the departure before takeoff and he dictated to me the departure verbatim. I assumed he knew it at that point. I was doing the after takeoff checks and when I looked up and the first officer turned to the 280 heading but then started to climb to 2000 ft. I corrected him and the aircraft climbed to approximately 1700 ft and then returned to 1500 ft. Reaching 4.5 DME we climbed to 2000 ft.
