Narrative:
First officer was hand flying to practice his instrument scan for a job interview. I was distraction looking up a frequency for his NAVAID and wasn't watching the leveloff. We were instructed to level at FL320 in the clearance but we went through FL320 to approximately FL324 before it was caught by ourselves and ATC. We promptly descended to FL320 and no conflict resulted. These are trying times with many distrs. My first officer is about to be furloughed and he is worried about providing for his family creating a hugh distraction in the cockpit. Supplemental information from acn 795885: I was flying the aircraft with autoplt off and with no flight director. We were cleared to FL320 and I did not level the aircraft and flew up to FL324. While we were correcting back to our cleared altitude ATC questioned us and again cleared us to FL320. At no time was the aircraft in close proximity to another aircraft. During the climb out above FL180 the captain and myself engaged in conversation about the drawdown of the fleet. We talked about his future and my furlough.
