Narrative:
We were taxiing eastbound across the main terminal ramp at jan, when ground control pointed out a small transport Y off our left that was on a converging course with us at the intersection of the southeast portion of the main terminal ramp and the parallel taxiway to the FBO. The captain, who was taxiing and handling the radios told ground control that we would give way to the small transport Y. Ground control then instructed us to give way to the small transport Y and follow him to the FBO. As we approached the intersection, I could clearly see that we were on a collision course with the small transport Y and that we were just a bit too fast if we were going to give way. Fearing that the captain might have misunderstood ground, I looked over at him and could see him closely watching the small transport Y off our left. I had my feet on the brakes, but didn't use them since the captain had the plane. (We were in a small transport X, and I was told in flight training never to have two pilots on the brakes simultaneously, due to the possibility of losing all brake pressure). I started to warn the captain verbally, but didn't since I would have had to raise my voice considerably in order to be heard through his headset. (This plane didn't have an intercom.) I chose not to do this since the wife of vip was in the back, and I did not want to alarm her. As I was about to step on the brakes at the last possible minute, the captain shoved the throttles up and cut in front of the small transport Y barely missing it. Needless to say, both ground control and the pilot of the small transport Y were very upset. The captain's excuse for this inexcusable near accident was that he had a vip on board. It was raining at the time and he didn't want the other aircraft to take the parking place closest to the FBO. Ironically, the vip's wife was met at the plane with a car and didn't need to ever go in the FBO. Supplemental information on acn 81602: small transport said, 'hey ground I thought we were going first.' I spoke up and said, 'I thought you were going to follow him?'. He then said something like, 'I changed my mind, they're probably holding the no.#1 place for me anyway, sorry.'

Title: GA SMT CUT IN FRONT OF ANOTHER SMT TAXIING TO THE GATE. PIC HAD ACKNOWLEDGED HE WOULD GIVE WAY TO THE OTHER ACFT AS CLRED BUT CUT IN FRONT AT THE LAST MINUTE TO GET A BETTER PARKING SPOT CLOSER TO TERMINAL. PIC SAYS CONCERN FOR THE WIFE OF A VIP MOTIVATED HIM.
Narrative: WE WERE TAXIING EBOUND ACROSS THE MAIN TERMINAL RAMP AT JAN, WHEN GND CTL POINTED OUT A SMT Y OFF OUR L THAT WAS ON A CONVERGING COURSE WITH US AT THE INTERSECTION OF THE SE PORTION OF THE MAIN TERMINAL RAMP AND THE PARALLEL TAXIWAY TO THE FBO. THE CAPT, WHO WAS TAXIING AND HANDLING THE RADIOS TOLD GND CTL THAT WE WOULD GIVE WAY TO THE SMT Y. GND CTL THEN INSTRUCTED US TO GIVE WAY TO THE SMT Y AND FOLLOW HIM TO THE FBO. AS WE APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION, I COULD CLEARLY SEE THAT WE WERE ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH THE SMT Y AND THAT WE WERE JUST A BIT TOO FAST IF WE WERE GOING TO GIVE WAY. FEARING THAT THE CAPT MIGHT HAVE MISUNDERSTOOD GND, I LOOKED OVER AT HIM AND COULD SEE HIM CLOSELY WATCHING THE SMT Y OFF OUR L. I HAD MY FEET ON THE BRAKES, BUT DIDN'T USE THEM SINCE THE CAPT HAD THE PLANE. (WE WERE IN A SMT X, AND I WAS TOLD IN FLT TRAINING NEVER TO HAVE TWO PILOTS ON THE BRAKES SIMULTANEOUSLY, DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF LOSING ALL BRAKE PRESSURE). I STARTED TO WARN THE CAPT VERBALLY, BUT DIDN'T SINCE I WOULD HAVE HAD TO RAISE MY VOICE CONSIDERABLY IN ORDER TO BE HEARD THROUGH HIS HEADSET. (THIS PLANE DIDN'T HAVE AN INTERCOM.) I CHOSE NOT TO DO THIS SINCE THE WIFE OF VIP WAS IN THE BACK, AND I DID NOT WANT TO ALARM HER. AS I WAS ABOUT TO STEP ON THE BRAKES AT THE LAST POSSIBLE MINUTE, THE CAPT SHOVED THE THROTTLES UP AND CUT IN FRONT OF THE SMT Y BARELY MISSING IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY, BOTH GND CTL AND THE PILOT OF THE SMT Y WERE VERY UPSET. THE CAPT'S EXCUSE FOR THIS INEXCUSABLE NEAR ACCIDENT WAS THAT HE HAD A VIP ON BOARD. IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME AND HE DIDN'T WANT THE OTHER ACFT TO TAKE THE PARKING PLACE CLOSEST TO THE FBO. IRONICALLY, THE VIP'S WIFE WAS MET AT THE PLANE WITH A CAR AND DIDN'T NEED TO EVER GO IN THE FBO. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION ON ACN 81602: SMT SAID, 'HEY GND I THOUGHT WE WERE GOING FIRST.' I SPOKE UP AND SAID, 'I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO FOLLOW HIM?'. HE THEN SAID SOMETHING LIKE, 'I CHANGED MY MIND, THEY'RE PROBABLY HOLDING THE NO.#1 PLACE FOR ME ANYWAY, SORRY.'
