Narrative:
Upon gear extension; nose gear did not extend. Recycled landing gear; no help. Declared emergency with ATC; and advised souls on board and fuel remaining in pounds; hours; and minutes. Accomplished alternate gear extension per flight manual guidance; and gear extended with 3 green lights. Notified cabin attendants and passengers of landing gear issue and that we anticipated a normal landing with emergency vehicles standing by as a precautionary measure. Conducted landing to the longer of the two runways. Accomplished a normal landing and rollout and requested emergency vehicles follow us to the gate.

Title: B757-200 nose gear fails to extend on final approach. Flight crew successfully performs alternate gear extension procedure and land safely following a precautionary emergency declaration.
