Narrative:
Working lax approach control from over smo. Approach vectored us for 24R -- all our radios and briefing for 24R. We were turned final and all lined up on 24R. At the very last transmission approach gave us 25R and tower on 133.9. Since we were much too close for a frequency mix-up, I changed to 120.95 which is correct for 25R. Tower cleared us for 25R then changed our runway to 25L. We landed 25L. After switching to ground control we were requested to call tower on telephone. They (tower supervisor) wanted to know why we lined up for the 25's. Told him that was the last we heard from approach and were getting all our radios retuned for 25 vs 24. My first officer was flying and we both distinctly heard 25R. Apparently controller said 25R when he meant 24R.

Title: ACR MLG WRONG RWY APCH LNDG.
Narrative: WORKING LAX APCH CTL FROM OVER SMO. APCH VECTORED US FOR 24R -- ALL OUR RADIOS AND BRIEFING FOR 24R. WE WERE TURNED FINAL AND ALL LINED UP ON 24R. AT THE VERY LAST XMISSION APCH GAVE US 25R AND TWR ON 133.9. SINCE WE WERE MUCH TOO CLOSE FOR A FREQ MIX-UP, I CHANGED TO 120.95 WHICH IS CORRECT FOR 25R. TWR CLRED US FOR 25R THEN CHANGED OUR RWY TO 25L. WE LANDED 25L. AFTER SWITCHING TO GND CTL WE WERE REQUESTED TO CALL TWR ON TELEPHONE. THEY (TWR SUPERVISOR) WANTED TO KNOW WHY WE LINED UP FOR THE 25'S. TOLD HIM THAT WAS THE LAST WE HEARD FROM APCH AND WERE GETTING ALL OUR RADIOS RETUNED FOR 25 VS 24. MY FO WAS FLYING AND WE BOTH DISTINCTLY HEARD 25R. APPARENTLY CTLR SAID 25R WHEN HE MEANT 24R.
