Narrative:

On 2/sun/88 I purchased a new den sectional before my flight from rapid city to den. This new sectional contains a blue box outlining the area covered by the den terminal area chart. Next to this outlined area is a box which states, 'pilots are encouraged to use the den VFR terminal chart for flts at and below 11000'. Terminal area charts provide greater detail and clarity of information in congested terminal areas.' I found that no information as to ATIS, control or approach frequency is contained in the outlined areas. I was forced to call tri-county unicom to obtain jeffco ATIS and tower frequency. For those new to the area I feel it is a good idea to have a terminal area chart. But, to say it is encouraged and then leave this information out is a mistake.

Title: REPORTER COMPLAINS OF REMOVAL OF ARPT INFORMATION ON NEW SECTIONAL CHARTS.

Narrative: ON 2/SUN/88 I PURCHASED A NEW DEN SECTIONAL BEFORE MY FLT FROM RAPID CITY TO DEN. THIS NEW SECTIONAL CONTAINS A BLUE BOX OUTLINING THE AREA COVERED BY THE DEN TERMINAL AREA CHART. NEXT TO THIS OUTLINED AREA IS A BOX WHICH STATES, 'PLTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO USE THE DEN VFR TERMINAL CHART FOR FLTS AT AND BELOW 11000'. TERMINAL AREA CHARTS PROVIDE GREATER DETAIL AND CLARITY OF INFO IN CONGESTED TERMINAL AREAS.' I FOUND THAT NO INFO AS TO ATIS, CTL OR APCH FREQ IS CONTAINED IN THE OUTLINED AREAS. I WAS FORCED TO CALL TRI-COUNTY UNICOM TO OBTAIN JEFFCO ATIS AND TWR FREQ. FOR THOSE NEW TO THE AREA I FEEL IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A TERMINAL AREA CHART. BUT, TO SAY IT IS ENCOURAGED AND THEN LEAVE THIS INFO OUT IS A MISTAKE.
