Narrative:
I have never been to psp before. It was my leg. (This was my first trip off IOE on the 'bus'). It went very well. The captain said nice job. We had a short ground time because of been late inbound. We set up for the next leg then I did the walkaround; the agent almost closed up with me on the walkaround. We had to get the clearance by voice. I had ground read it to me 3 times before I got it right. It read 'CATH9 V-370 tnp pke drk af 9;000 ft in ten 370 XA11.' we both confirmed we had written down the same clearance. Then the captain loaded the change in the box. It did not look right. It had emrud off the right then V-370. We both looked at it again; and we cleared emrud out of the box. It then looked right and we could navigate the departure. While looking at this; I was finishing looking at the runway data again. Runway 31L had a tailwind so bleeds off takeoff. Runway 13R had no tailwind bleeds on. On taxi out; the ATIS changed -- wind calm. I pulled up new data with bleeds on takeoff. Normal takeoff. Climbing out; we got switch to; I think; ZLA. He asked what we are doing. Of course the captain and I looked at each other. ZLA asked if we were going direct tnp. I said yes. He said approved -- that was it. Looked at the CATH9 departure. Looking at the notes more; we should not have cleared emrud from the departure. We had to clear psp VOR at 6;200 ft to join V-370 and it is 5 NM from the runway; we had to be close. We were rushed and were not expecting a loop like departure. Yes; I am new to the bus and to psp; but I still should have been a better crew member.
