Narrative:
We were departing sfo on runway 01R. The tower frequency was very congested. During our wait; a B747-400 went around on 28 (left or right; I'm not sure) due to not receiving landing clearance. The captain said; 'I would have waited longer before going around'. I said he was pretty low. The captain said; 'hell; they knew he was coming'. We received our final weights; informed tower we were ready for departure; and was given a clearance for; runway 01R; position and hold. As the first officer I; read back the clearance and the captain taxied the aircraft on to the runway; lining up on centerline and stopping well short of the takeoff power point. I told the captain where the takeoff power point was and he laughed; slapped me on the shoulder and said; gee; I've never seen that sign before and continued laughing. We waited approximately 5-10 minutes before we received takeoff clearance. A 747-400 was on a three (3) mile final; an aircraft on runway 01L was given clearance for takeoff and I said; wow; that will be close at which point we received our clearance for takeoff runway 01R; cleared for takeoff; no delay. Aircraft on two mile final. I read the clearance back and then told the captain that it would be close. He responded; no; he's just a big airplane out there on final. The captain started the takeoff roll by taxiing up to the takeoff power point. As the aircraft on final was getting closer; he kept adding powering until we were at the takeoff power point with takeoff power (max power set) and shortly there after in the high speed regime. Shortly there after the tower sent the 747 on final around. I said; we will have an aircraft going overhead. Don't rotate early or fast. We continued on our way and the captain commented how the tower controller screwed up. That they should know what they were doing and that it wasn't that close. I said it was close; he said; no; it was just too close for them. The human factors here were several: 1) tower controller seemed to be confused at times. 2) frequency and hence airspace was congested. 3) captain had a derogatory attitude toward me. 4) I as pilot not flying had just flown a four (4) day trip ending the previous day only to come back for this one (1) day trip. And was fatigued.5) due to my fatigue; the captains derogatory demeanor and my placing confidence and faith in the captain who has been on the aircraft for thousands of hours I did not speak up and say; no when I should have.

Title: Air carrier First Officer reports conflict during takeoff from Runway 1R with B747 landing Runway 28L. The reporters' Captain was back from the takeoff power point which delayed the application of takeoff thrust. The tower sent around the B747.
