Narrative:

During an area orientation flight thunderstorms developed requiring return to ZZZ. Wind were about 17-22knts gusting and changing direction from around 250deg to 300deg. Approach to runway 22 resulted in a sink rate on very short final that could not be countered resulting in touch down short of runway 22; catching a threshold light with the right landing strut. A go around was performed and tower recommended runway 35. A standard landing was then accomplished.
