Narrative:
While on final to runway 17, an small aircraft X transmitted his position over unicom to be on downwind to runway 17. When I was unable to locate an aircraft in this area, I did make visual contact with an aircraft located just east of runway 17 at midfield and approximately 500-600' AGL with a west heading. I lost sight of this aircraft for a brief time because of ground clutter. I was unable to get a response on unicom. This aircraft never came back into sight until we were at the same altitude and on a collision course. The small aircraft X never saw us. We were lucky someone was flying outside as well as inside. The small aircraft X never saw us, made a touch and go and departed.
