Narrative:
Aircraft X was descending via the kooly 2 arrival; air carrier Y was enroute to phx on the SUNSS6 arrival. I slowed air carrier Y down to 250 KTS. It looked like it was still going to be a factor so I turned air carrier Y 15 right. I was starting the relief briefing at this time. The relieving controller asked me if air carrier Y was stopped at FL120 for aircraft X. I said no that air carrier Y was on a vector for the sequence. I then started to receive multiple calls on the land line. The relieving controller said to turn air carrier Y; I turned him 30 right but he could not turn fast enough to stay outside the jring. Phx then called and said to put him on a 270 heading; I did then transferred communications to phx. I should have turned air carrier Y further right initially to go behind aircraft X.
